Who killed Goliath?

Posted by faithfirstmedia on July 3, 2009 at 4:47 PM

The following is an excerpt from the book Does the Bible Have Contradictions? by Matthew Elton, copyright 2009 Matthew Elton.

Question:

Did David (1 Samuel 17:23, 50) or Elhanan (2 Samuel 21:19) kill Goliath?

Answer:

David killed Goliath. 2 Samuel 21:19 does not say that Elhanan killed Goliath, but rather, that Elhanan “slew the brother of Goliath”.
